Awesome TED talk, brought to you by the impunity of scam artists in the face of higher education.

I couldn’t write snarky captions like the one above all day long to save my life. I hate to admit it but I am completely hooked on the Unhappy Hipsters website (you can skip their twitter feed, little more than a RSS), which riffs on the absurdity of uber-modern spaces. It’s hard to describe the humor but it’s one part design school and another Mystery Science Theatre 3000. Sprinkle some yuppie loving mirror-rage over the top and you have the recipe.

How do I find myself up past 1am on a Thursday night not due to going out and drinking like a fish? Wrapping up loose ends at the soon-to-be-former job is taking forever, and I don’t want to be that guy that leaves everyone else in the lurch. I hated that guy when it happened to me. .Gif via dvdp

George Nelson, Edward Wormley, Eero Saarinen, Harry Bertoia, Charles Eames and Jens Risom’s egos all fit into one room for a Playboy Magazine, July 1961 photo shoot. I wonder if you could do the same with today’s ‘brand name’ design crew–or who they might be, for that matter. Via theselvedgeyard

Celebrities can be morons too. What I find to be remarkable is that in this case it transcends generations and genres. I look forward to seeing more of this tomfoolery on Twitter in the future. Via TheDailyWhat.

No idea how I stumbled on this one, but Barack Obama Looks At Awesome Things is very real. And very rad use of time/adobe skills. Best use of photoshop since Animals With Lightsabres.

Red had a really good run this week. Time to change things up.

I love how someone mashed these two up. As such I wish I could cite it properly, having come from a random Tumblr site. What makes it wickedly effective is how well the logos scale to each package–it’s seamless enough to make most people do a double take. Anti-Pop Art, anyone?

no power tee

nopower1I’m not sure if Kick Ass if going to be any good, but as the counter-weight to The Watchmen it has potential. Regardless, the marketing has been dead-on in creating buzz from the bottom up with efforts like this. Unfortunately the best version of their signature series-shirt is only available on the UK French Connection website. The state-side version leaves something to be desired…

I love the fact that to people in product development and marketing this is what an ‘unboxing’ should be like. Sadly, this isn’t the case for any manufacturer other than Apple. Awesome ad work for a somewhat ‘uninspiring’ client.
