architecture stamps

stamps_0

Pretty cool concept here when it comes to allowing kids to build buildings. I hope that you don’t have to have a pagoda but even still it’s a pretty cool concept that you wish you thought of first. I’m sure these have existed in some shape or form for years but I haven’t ever seen one.

Results of playing with the stamps are above. I never thought about it but you really don’t need that many shapes to create a building. Get your set here for $35.00. Via Pan Dan

incase EO collection

incases

They definitely charge a premium for it but incase’s new collection is killer! The bag above is $189 and the upsell is all in the fabric. These are made from NanoSphere® fabric by Schoeller Textiles AG of Switzerland, which is apparently a naturally self-cleaning fabric. Putting the prefix of ‘nano’ or ‘bio’ in front of anything these days must be expensive because it seems to double the prices of just about everything.

sleeve

Case in point (no pun intended) is the laptop sleeve above, which is $79.00. At that price the case should also act as some sort of solar panel to repay you for all the ca$h you spent on it. Get this and other items here. Via Acquire.

batman trailer recut

YouTube Preview Image

I normally wouldn’t post some old recut trailer but (and I don’t know how) I hadn’t seen this before and wanted to share. This took someone a whole lot of time and it was well worth it.

is 90 LEDS on your wrist considered ‘bling?’

206866392Tokyo Flash. They just don’t want to cooperate when it comes to conventional approaches to telling time. I like how the information does’t fill the entire watch face and gives it a bit of white space to frame the content. Apparently this somehow tells time and date. Set up mode must be a bitch given you only have two buttons. Get it for $79.99 (plus shipping) here.

Chris Gilmour

card_car1

Some artists paint, some sculpt, some recreate everyday objects using cardboard. Chris Gilmour is one of the later, responsible for making everything from typewriters to cars using this medium. Did I mention that everything is made life-size (1:1 scale)?

scoot

‘One of the reasons I am attracted by cardboard is that, although it can be an expensive material, people fail to notice it and just throw it away when buying an object, often slightly irritated at the thought of having to dispose of it.’ Check out his entire site here.

if:then

1The picture above is from a German art exhibition at Bosse Sudenburg and raises an interesting point: Isn’t life just a series of conditional logic statements like the one above? At a certain level it’s all cause & effect……on another it’s the type of thing I aced when taking my ACTs back in high school. Was that too deep to share via blogging or should I have saved this for all the twittering I don’t do?

3d logos done right

http://www.vimeo.com/3882691

Recently we have all seen text being mapped along 3D axis in movie trailers (Spider Man)and in television shows (Fringe) but finally someone was able to do it correctly. In the example above a designer made the jump between 2 and 3D in a seamless manner. It helps that it’s a decent logo with a nice typeface for a change too. I usually see some really stale sans-serif stuff that doesn’t register that well on screen but this is a welcome change of pace.

You can see more on Hypoly which is a website that is actually an undergraduate UK graphic designer’s senior project. He will be animating 50 logos in 50 days that consist of five-second snippets posted on the site and on Vimeo. I look forward to seeing more…
