mininookanooka

nookas

No, this isn’t an obscure Hawaiian shout out. It’s a limited run series of miniature vinyl toys for watch manufacturer, Nooka. When it comes to adorable, yet inexplicable mascotts it looks like Domo might get a run for his money from a similarly fuzzy bizarre competitor. Either way, this thing is pretty rad at 3.5 inches tall for $25 if you ask me. Apparently there are 8.5 inch versions for $40, but thats a lot of love for my budget.

new new balance 1500

new-balance-1500-fall-2010-front

Classic reinterpretation of an old theme. Suede and mesh uppers in either gray on gray or gray on some ‘not quite maroon dark red.’ I heart either color combination but the breath of fresh air is the more aggressive styling being brought to the detailing. Take the acute angles as opposed to the gentle curvatures of the toe caps for example. It’s pushing things into the future while carrying the retro along with in terms of proportion when it comes to the mesh vs. leather. I”m kinda pissed I have to wait until the fall with these. no power tee

nopower1I’m not sure if Kick Ass if going to be any good, but as the counter-weight to The Watchmen it has potential. Regardless, the marketing has been dead-on in creating buzz from the bottom up with efforts like this. Unfortunately the best version of their signature series-shirt is only available on the UK French Connection website. The state-side version leaves something to be desired…

cloak bag

cloak-bag

Genius concept, I’m sure it’s more valuable for Paparazzi than anyone else but that doesn’t mean it wouldn’t be kewl to have. On second glance forget about paying for something like this when you can spend an hour or two modifying an existing bag. Or just throwing together another one….for less than $50. Via Uncrate.

Designer Ryusaku Hiruma has the freshest spin on the Chuck Taylor with the latest collaboration with Converse.  Handmade with grain leather and a perforated All Star logo and hand-stitching a pair will only run you $600. I don’t care that it has leather laces, no pair of sneakers is worth that much because if being hand made means that much you should figure out how to make these yourself–might be more cost effective. knockaround belt

belt_silver_thumbSince the white leather belt revolution is now dead (outside of New Jersey) enjoy a throwback sailor-style nylon offering instead. Not bad for $16 with a decent logo if you ask me.

star player high-top

concon

is proving that he can reach into the vault of Converse and keep coming up with looks that keep Converse fresh. Case in point is the mash-up of the classic leather basketball high top and what his collaboration is best known for: a pared down Chuck Taylor. I heart how he maintains the sole while altering the rest, sticking to very simple colorways, shape/format of detailing, and sparing use of leather.  Get them here for $125.

In a classic case of releasing product that caters to the high end ProSumer and implementing a ‘top-down’ approach to building demand (mostly seen in the sports space) Astro Gaming has released a follow-up to their A40. And I want one now. Not only is the design rock solid but it scales well; use it for team-based gaming and remove the boom mic to take calls using it’s in-line 3.5mm mic cord, then take it on the road for listening to .mp3s with a decent pair of cans. Can’t wait to see what their product lineup looks like by the holiday season since it’s easy to platform allot of the components into the pure audio space. Not bad for a brand built by San Francisco ID consultants Astro Studios, part of a recent trend set by FuseProject and Jawbone. Check out the full article on Astro in fastcompany

j5320s_100_1I can’t help but want this even though the shipping is about half of it’s £27.50 sale price. Couldn’t even try to keep it clean anyways. Available for here.

If Mario and René Magritte got together I would imagine the result would be this. $10 until the end of the week on Threadless.
